Fishing and Other Activities

Fishing
Meccawe Pond is home to approximately 800 Rainbow and Brook Trout ranging from 5 inches on up to 26 inches. Simply put, the fishing is excellent.

During most of the spring, summer, and fall these fish will readily feed on the surface and can be taken by dry flies and nymphs, but members, their families, and guests also have good success with lures and worms. (No live bait, such as shiners are allowed, to protect the ecology of the pond.) Members are allowed to keep up to 90 fish a year.

Big brookie!Fishing is allowed from both boats and shore, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in boats, and the children must wear life vests (provided.)

Members bring their own equipment, as none is available at the club. If you don't know how to fly fish and want to learn, let us know. We'll be happy to help you get started.

Other Activities
Many people take day hikes in the surrounding area, along the snowmobile trails and loggin road adjacent to the club. We now have 2 marked hiking trails on the property. Many members simply like to come up and relax and picnic for an evening or a weekend.

The Woodstock/Killington area abounds with great shopping, restaurants, and attractions, such as the Vermont Institute of Natural Science.and the Hanover/Dartmouth College area is only 45 minutes away. A large percentage of our members are from Massachusetts and surrounding states, and use the club for long weekends, combining fishing with sightseeeing.
